NSW Government extends Disaster Declarations for Northern NSW

The Minister for Police and Emergency Services Michael Gallacher has today extended Natural Disaster Declarations to the Local Government Areas of Liverpool Plains, Ballina, Upper Hunter and Gloucester.
This natural disaster declaration brings to 21 the areas that have been declared as a result of recent floods and storms, including the Gunnedah, Moree Shire, Greater Taree, Gwydir, Narrabri, Tenterfield, Bellingen, Byron, Lismore, Kyogle, Richmond Valley, Clarence Valley, Coffs Harbour, Inverell, Nambucca, Kempsey and Tweed Shire Councils.
"These declarations activate assistance for other communities that have been badly hit by the recent floods and storms," Minister Gallacher said.
"Councils, families, business owners and primary producers can now access the help they need to recover and rebuild, under the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements and the NSW Disaster Assistance Arrangements," Minister Gallacher said.
Minister Gallacher also welcomed the Federal Government's decision to act on the advice of the NSW Government and provide clean-up and recovery grants for primary producers and small business owners in Moree, Narrabri and Gwydir.
"I will be visiting Moree today to again review the devastation that the floods have left in their wake, and I'm pleased that those worst hit by the floods can now access some extra support.
"I would also like to applaud the efforts of the State Emergency Service and other emergency services personnel, who have been on the frontline of the response effort." Minister Gallacher concluded.
